Connect with a Cause | Engage to make a Difference | Together Transform Lives

Worldwide, distance running events have established themselves as fund raising platforms for various causes. Marathons are a wonderful trigger to do your bit for charity, since it symbolizes community spirit, melts all barriers and provides a unique platform for fund raising to support the less fortunate.

The Airtel Delhi Half Marathon supports the idea of ‘Run for a Cause’, therefore giving runners the opportunity for making their run meaningful by choosing a cause they would believe. It also lends an opportunity to all Civil Society Organisations (CSOs/ NGOs) to ‘raise friends and therefore raise funds. This year is the 15th edition of the Event, and 12th edition under the title sponsorship of Bharti Airtel.

Some CSOs use this event as a platform to raise awareness for the work they undertake, and some to raise amounts for their charitable activities. Each CSO is empowered under the supervision of India Cares Foundation - the event’s official Philanthropy Partner, thus reaching out to various corporate and citizens of India. In the last 14 years of the event, over 270 CSOs have on an aggregate raised ₹ 64+ crores for their various projects.

Besides being recognized as the world’s most prestigious half marathon, the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon (ADHM) creates an impartial environment where CSOs with varied bandwidths, across various cause categories, can all raise funds using ADHM as a platform. This is also a platform for individuals and companies to actively support and contribute towards a cause/CSO of their choosing.

In order to enable fundraising at the back of ADHM, India Cares Foundation and Procam International formulate a Philanthropy Structure which guides all – CSOs, individuals and companies – in their fundraising endeavors.

The Philanthropy Pillar of ADHM 2019 is guided on the following principles:

  • Cause agnostic
  • Empowering
  • A self-sustaining model
  • Transparency & Accountability

The Airtel Delhi Half Marathon is one of the few races in the world to publish a document which revealing the total funds raised at an Event’s edition, the participating CSOs and the funds raised by each, names & profiling the individuals raising substantial amount of funds, listing of companies who have chosen to contribute towards CSO/s and participate in the Event. This corroborates the principle of ‘transparency’ which immensely supports the credibility of the platform.
